The Realist Lifeline bass pickup is made by David Gage. It is a durable, self-powered, transparent piezo pickup that offers a focused bass sound, perfect for those musicians who want a lot of punch without loss of fidelity. The Realist LifeLine performs well at high volumes, offering a clear sound without any boom. Mounted at the adjuster without glue or fasteners, the LifeLine bass pickup will fit on most adjustable bridges without changing a thing, and it’s just as easy to take off. The Realist Lifeline bass pickup offers more punch than the Realist Copperhead.

We include our Bass Bags Jack Mount Kit with all Realist Lifeline pickup orders completely free of charge (normally £6.98). The mount greatly reduces the fitting time and takes away the need for removing and refitting the G string. We find that in our workshop, fitting time is reduced to less than 5 minutes by using the jack mount kit.

Realist Lifeline Installation

The Lifeline is fitted on the non-threaded side of the bridge adjuster so that it’s sandwiched between the wood of the bridge and the wheel of the bridge adjuster. However, this does mean that the Lifeline is only suitable for double basses with bridge adjusters fitted.

The two prongs of the transducer element go on either side of the adjuster’s pole. It’s easy to fit and doesn’t require professional installation. Importantly it’s just as easy to remove making it the ideal bass pickup for adjustable bridges. The Jack socket is mounted with our Bass Bags Jack Mount Kit quickly and easily. There is also an included ‘P’ clip that can be used by threading the ‘G’ string through the ‘P’ clip before going through the tailpiece as usual. Alternatively, you can fit it with a Realist Docking Station giving you volume control and this negates the use of the ‘P’ clip as the jack socket attaches directly to the Docking Station
